Conviction awakened inside a chamber lined with shattered weapons, where a sword stood embedded in black stone. Hundreds of spirits had tried to pull it free; their names had been erased from the Vault. The moment Conviction wrapped his hands around the hilt, the chamber filled with visions of every way he could fail.
He held on anyway. Days passed. His hands split beneath his armor, yet the sword did not move, and no vision of defeat could make him release it.
The Vault opened beneath his feet and dropped him into a kingdom on the edge of surrender, its walls broken and its army exhausted. Conviction carried the stone — sword still buried inside it — onto the battlefield, and kept walking as arrows and spears broke against it. One soldier lowered a surrender flag. Another picked up a shield. When the enemy charged, the sword finally broke free.
He is not stubbornness, and he is not blind obedience — he is the strength that appears when a person chooses what they believe in and accepts the cost of standing by it. Carved into the stone that once held his blade are the first words he ever spoke: "Once I choose, I stand."
"I cannot promise that we will win. I can only promise that I will not abandon what I chose to defend."
